Mondial Celebrates the Distinctive Dress of the Maasai

The Maasai tribe reside in the arid lands along the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania and Kenya and are famous for their long-preserved culture and distinctive traditional dress.

Often featuring rich reds with black stripes, the swathes of wrapped cloth is called shuka and is traditionally worn with colourful beaded necklaces. Shuka cloth is known to be extremely durable and thick which protects the Maasai from the harsh weather and terrain of the savanna.
